A Call to Prayer
by Clara M. Brooks in the Public Domain
(The last two verses by Vic Zarley)
Softly the evening vespers
Hallow the closing day;
Sweetly the Savior whispers,
“Come to the throne and pray.”
Come, 'fore the shadows lengthen,
Bring Him your burdened heart;
Come where His grace may strengthen,
Come from your cares apart.
Smiles of His love await thee,
Lighting His lovely face;
Just to behold His beauty,
Dwell in the secret place.
Boldly we may approach Him,
Mercy and grace to own;
Tempted like us, He bid us
Come to the Father's throne.
Softly I hear Him calling,
Calling at close of day;
Sweetly His tones are falling,
“Come to the throne and pray.”
And yes, in the midst of our troubles
When it seems such a very bad day
The reward of this choice more than doubles
As we come to the throne, then, and pray
For it's easy to pray in glad tidings
But harder to pray when we're sad
With desperate measures deciding
It's best if God's throne's all we had

Buckle Up with Prayer
by Vic Zarley
When I'm flying in a plane
They strap me in so tight
And if we hit some wind and rain
You know I'll be all right
I do more than buckle up
When I'm in the air
Often when I get uptight
You know I say my prayers and…
Chorus:
Buckle up for safety
Buckle up with prayer
Like the seat belt I put on
It's great to know God's there
Buckle up for safety
Buckle up with prayer
Often when I'm going through
What seems the roughest times
If you were to look in me, you'd
See a happy mind
You know I like to plan ahead
Yes, when I can, prepare
I'm never thrown for any loops
I buckle up with prayer..so (chorus)
When I fall, I safely float
Down in my prayer-a-chute
I'm building up my spirits and
Finding my prayer roots
I really like to play it safe
So not a day goes by
When I don't buckle up and pray
Why not give it a try? And..
