Jesus Made a Whip of Cords (John 2:15) by Vic Zarley

The world is just a carnival -- that's all that it will be
The things that happen in it we all take so seriously
And as we do then God can't work through us to shine His light
Oh, Jesus, take that whip of yours and swing with all Your might -- then

Jesus made a whip of cords that
He would use
To drive out all carnality that
We would choose
Why do we fill our temples with
Ungodly things?
Oh, Jesus take your whip of cords and
Start to swing -- right now

Is your temple so defiled by watching that TV?
Do you bow down to get your paper and read excitedly?
Do you pay homage to the movies every Friday night?
Are you caught up in carnal news that lost reporters write? --let

If the church is just a social club, politically unfair
There's Jesus with His whip of cords, right hand raised in the air
He grieves for temples, in and out, but will not stay despaired
For nothing is impossible when God is standing there --'cause

I was praying one morning on our couch in the first RV we had when I first moved to Indiana. I did not hear a voice—but a rather dominant thought urged me to "go to my guitar." I opened my eyes and did as I was told. In very little time I had this song composed, both words and music. I believe sincerely that it is a message He wants His body to have regarding the purification process that His children must go through. He wants to take His whip of cords to our impure thoughts, desires, and help us become Kingdom attracters for Him. We are not much help if half the time we are drawn into the carnality of the world. Let Jesus make a whip of cords for you!

Jonah by Vic Zarley

I'm deep inside the fish
Of my halting mental fears
Strangling in the belly
Of the fish these many years

Like Jonah, I desired to
Proclaim the Father's will
But afraid of what would happen
I remained in prison still

I tried to get away
On a boat that sails the sea
A storm came up and all
The crew looked fearfully at me

I realized I can't escape
The Father's will at all
The mental malformations from
My mind began to fall

And then I tossed my body
In that wild churning sea
And soon a fish swam over
And slowly swallowed me

I've been here many years now
In the belly of this fish
Thinking what I'd do if I
Were granted just one wish

My Father has the best for me
Within His holy mind
Let me serve You, Father,
As You work our Your design

Let me be released from
The bondage of this fish
To do the will of You, dear God,
That is my deepest wish
