Sometimes I Feel So Fragile
Sometimes I feel so fragile
A bubble about to pop
If someone throws a careless word
Or thinks an unkind thought
Sometimes I feel so delicate
Like lace laid on a stone
I feel I'm just the circles
On a lake when rocks are thrown
The circles getting wider
And weaker as they go
They mellow into nothingness
They blend into the show
Please take my life within Your hand
Upon Your rock, I'll take my stand
What would You, Jesus, have me do?
I want to learn to live through You
You gave me breath so I could breathe
And desire so I could need
You gave me love so I could give
You gave me life-please help me live!
This poem, dear friends, speaks of the humbleness and defenselessness we must have before the strength of Christ can be expressed through us. We cannot march into heaven, storming its gates with our own limited sight. It cannot be done. In this world, we have built our own kingdoms and we bow to them, giving God a cursory glance, now and then. This is not the way it is supposed to be. Let the prideful dross be burned up in you and turn, tearfully, to God, giving Him your all so He will give you His all. He cannot give it to you first. You must give to Him first THEN He gives His all to you. If you try to hold back some of your life, unwilling to relinquish all to Him, He must hold back Himself, too. This is the way He works because of free will. We must conform to Him. He cannot, nor should He, conform to us.
