A man kneeling down in prayer, seemingly crying out to the Lord.

The Mind Cries Out

The mind cries out for knowledge
The brain bogs down in facts
There comes a time to leave the play
So we can truly act

When the body's thirsty
Water satisfies
Jesus quenches thirst for love
And calms the human cries

How do we reach the pool within
To quench our deepest thirst?
We must accept our Lord and Savior,
Jesus, that is first

He died for us upon the cross
Now we can truly know
He did this for we desperate lost
And now, in Him, we grow

Then we start the lonely trek
Through mountains in our minds
Our loving Lord will carry us
To streams where we will find

Signs within the dreams we have,
Our Bible, and our books
And soon God's Spirit will break through
A bubbling cleansing brook

Know we are one with God right now
Develop faith complete
Know our peace and joy within
And soon we'll take our seat

Within God's kingdom. All is well
There is no soul's despair
When Jesus is accepted
And we become aware

Life is not all that we see
Nor is it what we hear
We're no longer long lost souls
Strangling in our fear

Life's true life and love's true love
And words cannot explain
We make the effort, now, to know
But at times our minds are strained

For years of thoughts have left debris
Beliefs that are not true
And years of lying to ourselves
Is detrimental, too

The past is gone-just start anew
And soon the path will clear
And soon the day will come
When we will notice there's no fear

Let's not stop there, we've just begun
The best, my friend, is yet to come
Jesus came to tell us true
That even greater things we'll do

Jesus came to tell us, though
That we are seeds for God to sow
That we are more than just alive
That one day we will arrive

To a kingdom we can't know
Where love pours forth like liquid gold
Where death no longer leaves its mark
Where light has thrown away the dark

But now we're still within our shells
We make small heavens and small hells
We talk and talk but it's hard to tell
Even those we know so well

That something greater does exist
There is a hand beyond the wrist
There is a little mental risk
Because the carnal mind so slips

But once Christ's mind can forge on through
Once His mind can lock onto
All within us that is just
Nothing here can deter us

We are the branches, Christ's the vine
And God's the tree from which we shine
And glory's not so far away
Although it used to seem that way

God becomes a mighty force
That penetrates our mental forts
As we're exposed, we realize
That Jesus wants to use our eyes

Thank you, Father, thank you so
For teaching us what we should know
In Your Name our prayers have come
We are Your daughters and Your sons

Our minds cried out for knowledge
Our brains bogged down with facts
Through You we've left the worldly play
And we can truly act

And now the curtain rises
And now God's Son does shine
For He's the Script within our hearts
The Feast from which we dine

We're no longer actors
In a world we can't believe
We are just Your children
In Your Love we've been conceived
poem, poetry
