Poems for the Heart

Prelude to the Poems

The previous stories and essays on the nature of God can stimulate the mind and help us know that there is a lot more going on in this world than meets the eye. We can begin to grasp intellectually the tremendous scope of God's involvement in our lives. God need no longer be an entity who has no interest in us individually. We know that He takes every interest in us and is indeed involved in every aspect of our lives.

The following section of this book are poems I've written over the years that can be helpful in reaching another part of your being: The heart. These poems, if pondered and allowed to sink into the deepest recesses of your mind, will hopefully find their way into your heart, making a home there. Sometimes, you will discover, it isn't necessary to understand everything. Sometimes we just have to know without going through the process of trying to grasp it intellectually. These poems, in the process of their assumptions, convey a certain knowledge that is wonderful to have, then they take off in rhyming or free verse, helping us grasp things we may not otherwise ever understand, and, indeed, may never need to. Go ahead and grasp what is assumed in these poems: That there is a caring God and that He loves you very much.

Many of these poems were streaming through my mind almost too fast for my pen to keep up with them. In this regard, then, they were gifts, meant to be given, meant to be shared, and meant to be a blessing in many ways. Who am I to try to define their purpose? I stand in awe, just as you do, of our almighty God who does His work through us who have cleared as much debris as possible from the floors of our minds, making room for Him to reside and do His work. But, in a way I do not understand, He can use us in magnificent ways for His purposes despite our flawed, rebellious and infested natures. How awesome!
