How to Remove a Light StainA large light stain shining on a pair of pants.

As I sat in my Pontiac, engine idling, out of the corner of my eye I noticed a horrendous food stain on my pants. I was mortified.

I looked down expecting to see this monstrous blotch and was already trying to determine what greasy concoction I had unknowingly spilled on my dress pants. What I saw was enlightening. It was not a stain after all. I moved my leg to make sure. It was a sun beam.

How do I remove a light stain? Can Jesus help me change my perception? The stains are totally in my focus. If I repent and change my focus, it is no longer a stain. It is a sun beam.

How do I remove an irritation? I must ask Jesus to change my perception about it. When someone's irritating me, it could be a blotch upon my life OR a chance to learn to love as Jesus wants me to. It is quite possible that I have been denying His command that this was an important thing to do.

As I begin to awaken to the truth that shall set me free; as I become enlightened, so to speak, there will be times when a shaft of light may burst into this crazy nightmare I'm having and I may be frightened by it.

At times I have awakened from a bad dream and found that a tree branch outside my window, or a shirt hanging on the door knob, frightened me. Those objects didn't become sinister. The dream simply came into the present reality and brought fear that I projected onto those objects.

As God's light bursts forth through me, I may bring part of this nightmare world I am living into God's Reality. This could cause me to be afraid of God's light. But there is nothing to fear if Jesus is our Savior, is there? A negative situation may appear to stain our circumstances but, with Jesus in our focus, He gives us His gift of a change of perception which reveals this isn't a negative situation at all but a beam of light, the chance I've been waiting for, the ladder I've been looking for that leads to a closer relationship with Him.

Jesus asks us to walk in the safety of His protection and love. Our perception, blessed by Him, will reveal that all worldly attacks can bring us closer to Him because we have willingly asked Him to capture our minds and hearts and so they are no longer possessed by the enemy. Consequently, all attack is now viewed as a call to Jesus, asking Him to pump up His love machine, working through us. We no longer would choose to follow Satan and make his dreams of our destruction come true by choosing to follow him instead of Jesus and return fire, hoping to disable our enemy. There is no enemy but Satan. We must turn away from his commands so that we can acknowledge and properly execute our Savior's commands.

How often am I frightened by what appears to be coming at me? How often do I forget that Jesus Christ is dwelling in me and that He will not leave me comfortless. How often do I feel the need to take on the problem myself, forgetting that Jesus said He will take my burdens?

Every time I choose to keep them, I am forgetting that I can be relieved of them and am deciding to run the world my way. Remember the blotches that appear in our lives are only light stains that Jesus, from His dwelling place in our hearts, will remove once and for all.
