Chapter 32
Stopping Just Short of the Truth
God has to be greater than the beings He created. His mind is greater than even the highest and most complex thoughts of the scientists. The further scientists delve into the nature of what they can perceive, the stranger it gets, as even Mr. Dawkins has confirmed. Eventually, even the atheistic scientist, in his exploration, would come to the knowledge of God's spirit, undetectable, but there, the Mover and Sustainer of all. But even then, faith would be required. Faith is the only portal to God, for His Spirit is outside the range of the tangible.
God is certainly greater than all that He created. I referred to this inspired thought of Isaiah's earlier in this book, but allow me to quote it fully:
Isa 55:8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord.
Isa 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. (AMP)
It would be self-defeating for all His creation to be able to figure Him out. The very nature of God is that He resides outside the realm of all He created and, at the same time, knows the secret inner-workings of every heart He created, so He also abides in the realm of His creation. We can only examine the container of His creation and creatures. We cannot examine God's Spirit—except by faith. Faith launches us into a relationship with Him. The opposite of faith, which is doubt, causes us to make a micro-world of our own that seems all neat and pretty, (or hopeless) but lacks the truth—the reality of God, and our saving grace through His Son, Jesus Christ. We are not complete and whole unless we are faithful to God and His Son, Jesus Christ, who came from beyond this world to teach us about another, far greater one, the kingdom of God, for those receptive to the truth.
God is not self-defeating, but magnifies and glorifies Himself through His Son, whose Holy Spirit then dwells in each of us. We can then become God's adopted sons, through Jesus, at our faithful acceptance that this is so. Jesus said not to judge by appearances, but the scientific mindset does only that, and will not consider anything outside earthly and cosmic appearances. The atheistic scientist who will not observe the Mover, but only the moved, stops just short of the truth. All truth will be revealed if just one tiny step will be taken—on faith, allowing the Maker to reveal Himself to His creation. We know that God respects the free will that He gave His creation. He will not interfere with one's free will, UNLESS things are getting way out of hand.
The Road-to-Damascus effect may happen if someone is veering way off course, but loves the truth (even if they don't know it). It happened to Paul, who loved the truth, but thought the Christians were blaspheming God. (By the way, the church was praying fervently for God to do something about Paul and his terror against Christians.) It happened to me, as I was led out of the snares of the New Age, self-sufficiency belief system. And it can happen to anyone who loves the truth enough, even if they have failed to know it. The Hound of heaven (God) has got His Holy eye upon the atheists. I believe He especially has His eye on Richard Dawkins, and is even now preparing the way for his conversion. The book he wrote, which was a frontal attack on God, has gotten God's attention and He has declared that Professor Dawkins, author of The God Delusion, will be a blessing to many who are currently deceived, believing as he did. They, too, at his teaching, will have their eyes opened to the truth as they spend time on their knees, acknowledging their Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise God!
